Did some more testing. Sadly, (((((Fish + Spider) + Fish) + Fish) + Fish) + Fish) did not produce Calamari. Hopefully adding one more spider will do it; I'll update as results come in. Petermesmer 22:26, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
My test results
Dragon + Crocodile = CrocodileA
CrocodileA + Raptor = CrocodileB
The offspring of a higher tier do not appear to maximize the potential to make it the highest possible generation towards it's higher tier, but I will report more test results as I get them.

A proposal I have to rewrite the articles... assuming I actually get how breeding TIer Y works:
'Raptor= 'lizard + bird
The first generation offspring will be a lizard or bird. I recommend naming it with a “II” at the end of its name to denote that it’s second generation.
Breed your second generation (whether it’s a bird or a lizard) with ANY bird or lizard (make sure the two are different family, i.e. bird/lizard or lizard/bird). Name the third generation with “III” at the end of its name.
Breed third generation lizard/bird with ANY lizard or bird (again, no bird/bird or lizard/lizard combos). DUN DUN DUN!..... You will get Raptor when the egg hatch.
so therefore, I am assuming that the 4th generation to any breeding grants TIER Y critter?

Inbreeding? and more[]
Has anyone done any research to see if inbreeding affects anything?
Bird M + Wolf F = Wolf F II
Does it matter if Wolf F II + Bird M = ???
Also, It took me a bit to understand the wording in the breeding strategies.
Can we pretty it up?
IE:
TIER II Breeding Pattern
- Species A + Species B = Species AorB II
- II + Opposite Species = III
- III + Opposite Species = TARGET
TIER II Combinations (Target: Species A + Species B)
- Raptor: Lizard + Bird
- Spider: Wolf + Moth
- Owlbear: Wolf + Bird
- Crustacean: Fish + Moth
- Toad: Lizard + Fish
And so on through the list.
Does level have any effect on breeding? I mean are there pros to maxing a creature before taking a sample?

No there isn't. The samples will be the same.
Message to everyone: Deleted the stuff from a year ago. Issue brought up here previously is now known as tainting.

Gestation time issue
i bred a raptor and a fish but the egg needs 12 hours to hatch instead of 9.
maybe it's just a miscalculation of mine?
